My name is Frank, I‘m from Australia and the last time I‘ve been to Vienna was back in 2038. Today I would like to share how it is like to experience this vibrant city as a tourist. Of course I will not be alone today: Aline, an employee for the WATT magazine, will show me what this city has to offer in 2048 and she will also introduce to me the very well-known relationship to human powered installations that are spread over the city.
First things first, many people in the city are wearing special suits and have holograms hovering over their heads, also like my friend and tourist guide Aline. It reminded me of a video game, that I used to play when I was young - Sims - if I remember correctly. I was told that biofuel cells in the suits skin are able to produce energy from sweat and the holograms are displaying for example the energy consumption and production of the individuals.
So, after spending the entire day walking around the city and exploring the installations, I would like to give my conclusion. In terms of electricity gain the installations are not as useful as one might think, but it is safe to say that the awareness for electricity in this city is omnipresent. Educating the people about the importance of electricity and sustainability has been significant for decades now, but Vienna is a prime example in terms of this aspect.I wish for other cities to take a similar approach and hope to return soon. I thank my friend Aline for showing me around and explaining how everything works here in Vienna. It‘s been a great experience!
